Damien Gallop | | | 12C2+ for TIGRESS |
OLIS is set up for 12C2+ delivery, with about 13enA on FC6 from the Supernanogan source presently. Beam was reasonably stable overnight, and should condition out better over time as well. Initial tuning into ISAC-I is planned to begin this morning. |

Damien Gallop | | | 12C2+ for TIGRESS |
Tuning to TIGRESS is continuing. There is a full expectation that they will take RIB over the weekend.
As it stands, the beam schedule shows switchover from TIGRESS to TITAN on Sunday evening. For a couple of reasons, it would make sense to move that time into Monday or so. |

Damien Gallop | | | 12C2+ for TIGRESS |
Beam from the Supernanogan remains on standby for TIGRESS pilot beam. There were a couple of source trips over the weekend, at least one a consequence of a power bump that took out a few other things too.
We have had a couple of pending work permits in the queue for a while. One is for germanium beam development, and one is for OLIS leak checking. The benefit of carrying out this work is assured delivery of 74Ge for the upcoming TITAN run, rescheduled to begin Wednesday. Note that if a leak is found and repaired on the Supernanogan side, there will be a minimum of three days pumping required before sufficient vacuum will be achieved to generate multi-charge ions. |

Damien Gallop | | | 13C+3 from MCIS to TACTIC |
The 17O+3 (A/q=5.66) run to TACTIC finished yesterday morning. Then a source switchover was done to deliver 13C+3 (A/q=4.33) using enriched 13CO2 source gas.
Later... TACTIC is done. Next up: beam development at MCIS for upcoming 36Ar run. |

Damien Gallop | | | 15N setup over the weekend |
Keerthi set up the Supernanogan for 15N operation and destined for TIGRESS, using two source gas options: a miniature bottle of enriched 15N2 and a canister with a charge of research-grade 14N2. The canister is similar to the one we used for the 33S run to DRAGON, which finished Saturday morning. Canister is at -22"Hg and MCIS at 7.27e-8 Torr. A couple of beam stability tests were conducted at 15N4+ and 15N6+. Bob can choose which one he prefers to use. 15N4+ is selected and tuned through IOS up to the RFQ presently (~10:30 am).
Later... Bob reported at the Beam Delivery meeting that the 33S6+ beam was a very nice beam. We appreciate hearing it. |

Damien Gallop | | | 15N4+ to TIGRESS |
User tuning began Sunday night. Beam physics expert chose to retire the IOS:Q1 defeat, as he did not know until yesterday that it existed. He discovered it after attempting to retune yesterday around noon from scratch and making a mess, notwithstanding Keerthi's clear instruction to leave it alone. He also does not know that Rick developed a tune for this, which provides cleaner transmission than the "book" tune. Pity. Presently there are some 75enA of beam at FC6. That should be enough. Note that there were some 90enA with the "defeat" tune in place, prior to changing the IOS tune. Canister is at ~-22"Hg, and MCIS pressure at ~7.0e-8 Torr at ~09:00.. ICR is tuning through presently. |

Setup into ISAC-II began last night. Tuning is in progress now. Beam on FC6 overnight. Canister pressure is -22"Hg and MCIS pressure=7.1e-8 Torr. Pressure showed correlation with temperature. It is overcast today and cool, suggesting a fairly flat response today. |

Damien Gallop | | | 15N4+ to TIGRESS |
Delivery to TIGRESS began yesterday or so. ICR reported beam intensity drops overnight. I'll look at it presently. Meanwhile, canister pressure is still ~-22"Hg and MCIS pressure is 7.09e-8 Torr.
Later... Check source at request of ICR. It looks mighty fine. Slight tweaks on RF, but really no great change. FC6 was and is 200enA, though it was around 80enA this morning. |

Damien Gallop | | | 15N4+ to TIGRESS |
Delivery of 15N4+ to TIGRESS continues. Source gas canister is still at ~-22"Hg, and MCIS pressure is 7.2e-8 Torr. ICR reported intensity drops a couple of times this morning. The attached Stripchart suggests beam from the source is down to about a third from status quo. We will look into it now. |

Delivery to TIGRESS ended this morning as scheduled. ICR took nice emittance scans and is completing a target snapshot now. Canister still at -22"Hg and MCIS at 7.3e-8 Torr.

Keerthi Jayamanna | Routine | General | 16O+2 is ready for tuning. |
MCIS finished xenon development. MCIS is off and isolation valve is shut.
A new oxygen gas line is installed to microwave ion source via a hand valve neat PE.
Hand valve is tuned as a small leak so that the plasma can run with all other gas valves are shut.
However if one need to start the source Ne gas valves are needed to be opened.
A 3.13nA of 16O+2 is sitting at FC6 and ready to use as pilot beam. |

Damien Gallop | | | 16O1+ at 32.64keV for accelerator commissioning |
Beam was used last week for DRAGON commissioning. Successful run, completed yesterday, as reported by Colin this morning.
Milestone: First coasting beam through new SCC on Thursday, 8-Apr-2010 at ~20:00, using 16O(1+)4+ at 1.5MeV/u from MWS.
This week's agenda: ISAC-II commissioning and development. Maintenance Day either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Later... Marco has been tuning most of the day. He is done for now. I am taking the opportunity to work with the OLIS separator field stability program. It has been offline since at least last week, and no action taken. Attached are present state of things. |
