|
We did a test yesterday with the new Alga Microwave RF AMP, model # ALPA 50 Watt, serial # 130684 to be used for the MCIS. We used the RF Generator
from MISTIC and set the frequency to 13.80 Ghz, note that the RF Generator was/is limited to 16DB maxiumum RF output.
The RF cable that we used was from the 200W RF AMP, it has a 20DB SMA attenuator at the Generator end, so we could only get about 25 Watts maximum |

Here are pix of the same scan: original, then greyscale, then cropped, using The GIMP. Not bad. |

Fri May 22 15:03:55 2009, Damien Gallop, Routine, General, Temporary fix on IOS:TP7
|
Vacuum Group applied a temporary fix to the lower body seal on IOS:TP7, which we found last night to be leaking. Edi tells me that similar seals have
failed before. It's an O-ring, not a metal seal. The fix now was to marinate the outside seam with silicon grease and wrap with Teflon tape. We'll see
how that improves the backing line after a while. |

There are the last couple of hours of Supernanogan Development for this set. Our run plan included 17On+ studies. Time will not permit it this time around.
Also, the emittance numbers of 16O and 18O are not distinctive enough as they stand to warrant studies of the in-between mass. Keerthi will run the emittance
data files through his software during post-analysis, and we'll develop our next run plan based on his conclusions. |

We ran 32S5+ overnight. Keerthi has been working with the new surface source oven for the last couple of weeks. His results to come. Meanwhile, here
are a stripchart of overnight beam plus a few panels after my tweaking. Slits are at 5mm position.

Main event this morning so far: mass scans and post-scan analysis using Gabe's tools. We have a pretty good recipe now. Tight scan to mass 20 in progress.
Later... good scan. Geoff and I did a dry run of our presentations for Friday morning. We used the Auditorium computers, etc. After some small teething
pains, everything went well, including a cold start-up of the source. The 17O3+ emittance scan was taken quickly. Pretty good outcome anyway. The mass |
