solenoid tripped on power lead temp. I was here and caught it. System
cooling. |

Compressor still on. Starting flow to solenoid |

|
The power lead temperatures have been climbing at a rate of ~ 0.02K very 8
hours. The negative lead started to show some rippling this morning. The
positive flow had dropped from >250mm to 240mm. I cycled CV142 and the
temps dropped slightly. The negative ripple is gone and the positive flow
is back to >250mm. |
Tue Nov 7 10:35:32 2006, Doug Preddy, Normal Running, Maintenance day
|
I ramped down the solenoid power suplly and shut off flow to the power
leads. I will allow them to warm up and (hopefully) recover the flow rates.
I am also regenerating the M9BCP@ cryopump. |
Wed Nov 15 11:09:28 2006, Doug Preddy, Quench Recovery, Compressor tripped off
|
Compressor tripped this morning at ~8:45. I restarted the compressor, but
turbine 1 would not spin up. I let it warm for an hour and it started. I
started flow to the solenoind in parallel cold return. |

Tue Nov 28 10:32:04 2006, Doug Preddy, Quench Recovery, recovering after looong power outage
|
The power has been out for about 24 hours. Recovering coldbox, solenoid and
beamline vacuum.PLC is down for the vacuum system. Started compressor and
am flowing warm helium through the soleniod to warm it up while the vacuum
recovers. |
Fri Jan 26 15:10:37 2007, Doug Preddy, Maintenance, new control computer installed
|
I have installed a new control computer at the M9 solenoid control panel |

|
Starting the vacuum systems in the coldbox and solenoid. |
Fri Apr 20 12:15:12 2007, Doug Preddy, Start Up, remote PLC switch
|
I could not control the vacuum devices using EPICS. The buttons could be
pushed, but nothing would respond. The PLC was in local mode. Thumbwheel
to 100, push On/Open button to put it into remote mode. |
Mon Apr 23 16:31:02 2007, Doug Preddy, Start Up, Started compressor
|
Startewd compressor and purifer today. |
Tue Apr 24 10:21:49 2007, Doug Preddy, Start Up, Started flow to turbines
|
Started flow to turbines at about 10:00 in parallel warm mode. |
Fri Apr 27 10:10:07 2007, Doug Preddy, Normal Running, Solenoid Cold
|
Solenoid cold, power leads cold. Alarm handler started. |
Fri Apr 27 10:32:07 2007, Doug Preddy, Quench Recovery, Reset quench relay logic box
|
The quench relay logic controller was not functioning correctly. It showed
a "Trip" light and no other lights. I cycled the power to the controller
and it now seems to be working properly. This did cause a quench and I am
now recovering the system. |
Mon Apr 30 09:30:26 2007, Doug Preddy, Normal Running, problems over weekend
|
The PLC Limit switch power supply was tripped off on Saturday. I came in
and reset it and restarted all the vacuum systems that had tripped off.
The power leads were found to be warming up. This morning they were at ~
45K. I stopped flow to the power leads and will allow them to warm up
above 80K and then will recool them. |
Wed May 2 16:28:16 2007, Doug Preddy, Normal Running, Energizing solenoid to 500 amps
|
Power supply initially would not ramp up. I exercised the rate control
selector switch and found that the power supply would ramp up at only the
30 minute setting. It is ramping up at a rate of about 60 minutes. |
Wed May 16 10:02:35 2007, Doug Preddy, Maintenance, warming up power leads
|
Power lead temps have been slowly increasing over the last wekk. I ramped
the solenoid down and am warming the power leads to >80k. |
