  445   Thu Sep 29 10:50:30 2011 Damien Gallop  36/40Ar development with MCIS

Development with Supernanogan source continues. Present beam is 40Ar+7, about 70enA.

  444   Wed Sep 28 11:56:15 2011 Damien Gallop  36/40Ar development with MCIS

40Ar source gas, ergo 40Ar+x beams. 40Ar+6 earlier, and 40Ar+7 presently.

  443   Tue Sep 27 13:29:23 2011 Damien Gallop  36/40Ar development with MCIS

Beam development for forthcoming 36Ar run is in progress. Initial yield numbers have been determined. Source is running with Ar plasma presently, and tests will be repeated after source has conditioned for a while. The goal is to determine yield numbers of 40Ar and scale these to beam to be produced with source gas of enriched 36Ar. FYI:

Naturally occuring isotopes of argon:

Ar-36 ( 0.3365% )
Ar-38 ( 0.0632% )
Ar-40 ( 99.6003% )

442   Mon Sep 26 09:47:12 2011 Damien Gallop  13C+3 from MCIS to TACTIC

The 17O+3 (A/q=5.66) run to TACTIC finished yesterday morning. Then a source switchover was done to deliver 13C+3 (A/q=4.33) using enriched 13CO2 source gas.

Later... TACTIC is done. Next up: beam development at MCIS for upcoming 36Ar run.

  441   Fri Sep 23 14:59:14 2011 Damien Gallop  14N+3 & 17O+3 from MCIS to TACTIC at HEBT

Delivery continues. 14N+3 until mid-morning, then a switch to 17O+3 for tuning. The switchover from 116Sn to TIGRESS to 14N+3 to TACTIC was done on Tuesday mid-morning.

  440   Mon Sep 19 10:27:36 2011 Damien Gallop  116Sn+18 & 118Sn+19 from MCIS to TIGRESS

Delivery continued over the weekend with some interruptions here and there. A source intervention was made late last night and into the wee hours, and again this morning. Tuning to TIGRESS has resumed.

Note that ICR was using a 12C+2 beam for setup purposes. Their procedure was to turn off MCIS when beam not in use to minimize carbon contamination in the source. 12C+2 -> 116Sn+18 last evening around 21:00 with source expert present.
