Damien Gallop | | | 74Ge1+ to TITAN |
The Supernanogan is producing 74Ge using the heater source, a first for the Supernanogan. Development done over the last couple of days and completed yesterday. Tuning using mass 76 (76Ge or 76Se?) was done last night. Energy is set at 12.24kV, same as previous 12C2+ run. Beam is being used as TITAN pilot beam for their 74Kr run. |

Beam remained on FC6 overnight. Beam was used for a tune check this morning. At noon today beam was switched to 4He.
Later... Outcome of 4He development with Supernanogan: beam comes with other isotopes. e.g. 12C3+ and 16O4+. Verdict: 4He1+ beam is better produced with the MWS.
Later... By request, set up source for 74Ge beam again. ~30pA on FC6 by ~midnight. |

Beam is sitting on FC6 presently. Good source operation over the weekend. Some pics to come. RIB delivery to TITAN ended at 08:30 this morning. OLIS is scheduled for a beam switch tomorrow morning.
Later... A power bump knocked us out cold again. It appears that the Safety Enable bit was lost. |

Beam on FC6 drifted overnight. Touch up a few things, notably the EE. 25pA on FC6 presently. I also increased microwave power for effect.
Later... about 25pA on FC6. Somewhat noisy, but also stable. I left microwave at 700W. Beam handed over to ICR at ~13:15.
A note about mass flow controller. The new Hastings controllers do indeed shut off completely at zero setting. It should be noted that control in the sub-1sccm region is challenging. Move in 0.01 steps. I found that everything was fine down to 0.15sccm. The next step after that, i.e. to 0.14, closed the flow entirely. Not a crisis in this situation. |

Damien Gallop | | | 58Ni1+ from MWS to TITAN |
Beam idled overnight. Average ~50pA at FC6. About half that on ILE2T:FC3 presently. Setup on TITAN side in progress.
Later... ICR is concerned about the OLIS separator magnet wandering during the day. It's sunny today, so I would expect a little more wandering than on a rainy day. Also, they have significantly higher current at A/q >58.1 and asked if there could be another mass in the mix. Checking.
Later... TITAN takes coffee break. Opportunity to do a mass scan and also tweak source. Confirmed that centroid of mass peak is ~58.2. (Note: Slits left open for scan, so resolution is low.)
Note: Since this morning magnet adjustments, there are some 200pA of beam at FC6. |

From MCIS. It looks like things went fairly well over the weekend for them. An interlock glitch on MCIS:IV1 this morning, source pressure went slightly above MCIS:IG1 "Good" threshold. I have suggested to Tiffany that raising the "Good" threshold to 1e-7 might be a good idea. Because we are intentionally running with MCIS:TP3 off, the source pressure is higher. It's right on the edge of the current "Good" threshold. Attached is a trar of the MCIS pressure trend, which looks healthy. |

Last hours and minutes. Going well. Documentation appended. Users have requested beam until noon.
Note: We are using the MWS bias and EE power supplies on the Supernanogan source for this run, to provide source bias and also sputter chamber bias for the Supernanogan. |
